FYI- Exhibits

Hi everyone,

A few of our members have shared this information on local and regional exhibits.  If you are aware of exhibits which may be of interest to the club, please send the information to president@tidewatercameraclub.org and include Exhibits in the subject line.   Thanks!

A large scale photography exhibit by Kay Chernush entitled “Bought & Sold: Voices of Human Trafficking” will be on display at the ArtWorks for Freedom Art Exhibit located in the Waterfowl Building, 40 S. Harrison Street, Easton from September 8-October 1.  For more information, go to http://artworksforfreedom.org/event/easton/.

The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery has a few current exhibitions including: “Antebellum Portraits by Mathew Brady”, “Marlene Dietrich: Dressed for the Image”, “The Face of Battle: Americans at War, 9/11 to Now”, and “Lincoln’s Contemporaries”.  For more information, go to http://npg.si.edu/whats-on/current-exhibitions.

Were you aware of the Pulitzer Prize Photographs Gallery at the Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20001)?  From the website: “Photographers record the defining moments of our world and our time, capturing history through timeless images of fleeting moments. With the click of a button, vivid imagery documents the pain of poverty, the ecstasy of victory and the triumph of redemption. This gallery — a visitor favorite — features the most comprehensive collection of Pulitzer Prize-winning photographs ever assembled, including photographs from every Pulitzer Prize-winning entry since 1942, when the award was first presented. The gallery is updated each year when new winners are announced in April. Interactive touch screens in the gallery display more than 1,000 images and 15 hours of video and audio compiled from interviews with the prize-winning photographers.”  For more information, go to http://www.newseum.org/exhibits/current/pulitzer-prize-photographs-gallery/.   This may be a great opportunity to organize a club outing. If anyone is interested in a late fall, early winter road trip to the Newseum, send an email to president@tidewatercameraclub.org and include Club Outing in the subject line.
