Maryland Biodiversity Project Field Trip-
Jim Brighton, co-founder of the MBP, is leading a South Dorchester County field trip this Sunday, March 4th, rain or shine. The group will meet in the parking lot of the Cambridge Visitor Center (look for the big sail) at 9am to discuss logistics, including carpooling (there is only room for two more cars on this trip). Currently, the itinerary is as follows: 1st stop- Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, 2nd stop- Hoopers Island, 3rd stop (around dusk)- Bestpitch marshes. This is primarily a “birding” outing given recent sightings of Clay-colored Sparrows, Vesper and Lincoln’s Sparrows, a Snowy Owl, Purple Sandpipers and Short-eared Owls. The final stop, if interested, will be at RAR Brewery in downtown Cambridge for food and drink.
It will be a long day, with few opportunities to purchase food and drink, so it is advised that you bring your lunch, snacks, and drinks. Also, dress accordingly for the weather. Should you sign up and are delayed or cannot make it for some reason, you will need to contact Jim so that he is aware of the situation and can organize the carpooling and depart from the Cambridge Visitor Center after finalizing the trip details.
If you are interested in attending and/or if you have any questions, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org by this evening and I will forward to you Jim’s itinerary email. Also, please send an email Jim Brighton at email@example.com so that he can communicate with you directly should there be any updates to the schedule. Sorry about the short notice…I saw the post late Sunday night!
