Monday, September 18 7-8pm — Zoom ONLY
“Light Painting Still Life” with Graham Scott Taylor. Graham will demonstrate the set up of the scene and share camera settings to get you started. You will see the lighting process and understand his thinking and he will share photos of the results. There are numerous ways to create images based on light painting ‘in the dark’ which eliminates light in your scene except for where you choose to put it. Graham’s method uses an iterative process of free flowing trial and error with a goal of making the light serve the subject. The process can mimic natural light or create an exceptional moody surreal effect. The only limits are the timer on your camera and your imagination.

The Club supports a number of Special Interest Groups (SIG's) to address varied photographic interests of the members. Currently the club recognizes SIGs for Wildlife Photography, Landscape Photography, Travel Photography and Post Processing.
Club members are welcome to "join" any SIG and meet for photo outings, reviewing prints and whatever else supports their common photographic interests. Scheduled SIG activity is published on the club calendar. Interested TCC members may contact the SIG leader for more information.
A Speaker will first present a Lecture on a photographic topic and indicate an "Assignment". This Assignment is a call for members to submit images based on criteria discussed in the lecture. This assignment could be viewed as a Theme, or as a challenge to try something new, or an opportunity to display a member's current grasp of the photographic concept presented.
Image Requirements: Submitted images will be JPG images preferably in sRGB colorspace to render colors correctly on screen. Size the images 1500 pixels on the long side, which means the image should be 1500 pixels tall or 1500 pixels wide or 1500 x1500 pixels square and not larger. Members will be allowed to submit up to two entries using their Member ID Number followed by -1, or -2 as their entry name. This process will allow the Speaker to discuss individual submissions and identify common strengths and areas for further attention. Example: 123-1.jpg & 123-2.jpg
Image subject matter will vary as specified by the Speaker, and they will be displayed on the Club website.
Members are encouraged to make friends and work together, even on assignments. The Club expects submitted images to be the work of the member submitting. Post Capture Processing is viewed as an expected part of the Digital Image Making process which begins with an idea, equipment selection and actual image capture.
Tidewater Camera Club exhibits member prints in a variety of local venues throughout the year. Many believe that the print is the ultimate expression of a photograph.
A local club exhibit is a great place for the photographer to express a vision and connect with others.
Each venue will come with unique opportunity, whether a juried collection of prints chosen to work together, a themed exhibit or a ‘member’s choice’ opportunity to examine what members believe represents their best work. Often, the prints will be available for sale.
