Contact Ted

The Worldwide Photo Walk® is on the first Saturday of October again, but it’s a bit different this year. As a Tidewater Camera Club member you can make a self-guided tour or join Ted Mueller for a small group tour in Oxford. Meet at the ferry dock at 8:30am to meet your fellow “walkers”. Either walk you take, you may submit your photo to enter the contest. See details below.

What is a Photo Walk®?

It’s a social photography event where photographers walk around (usually in a downtown area or trendy section of town), shoot photos, and have fun. After the walk, participants have the opportunity to submit their best photo into a contest.

When is the Worldwide Photo Walk®?

The Worldwide Photo Walk® is an annual event held on the first Saturday of October. This year’s event will be held on October 3, 2020

Is there a fee to participate?

This years event will require a $5 donation to support the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya. 100% of your donation goes directly to the orphanage and makes a huge difference to the amazing youth at the Springs of Hope Orphanage.

How do I register for a walk?

Simply click on any “register now” button or link. You will then fill out your registration information including your city and your donation amount, click submit and then get ready for your event!

How many people can participate in each walk?

Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak in many places around the world all walks this year will be self-guided. We suggest that walkers keep their walks small and encourage walkers to go out alone or with immediate family only following your cities/countries/regions COVID-19 guidelines Should walkers decide to meet in groups we recommend utilizing masks and social distancing at all times.

What are the rules of the contest?

In order for all walkers to have the same opportunities to capture images during the walk, the following rules must be followed:

    1. You may only submit one photo
    2. Collages aren’t allowed, as they are technically more than one photo
    3. Photos must be taken during the walk (not before or after)

Is editing allowed for the photos submitted to the contest?

Yes, we are huge supporters of using Photoshop and Lightroom for editing and processing! The following editing is allowed:

    • From color to black and white
    • Infrared
    • Add contrast and saturation
    • Remove distracting elements
    • Create HDR and panoramas
    • Use of plug-ins such as OnOne, Nik, Topaz, etc.
    • Watermarks are allowed if you wish to include them but aren’t required

Do I have to enter the contest?

Absolutely not! The contest is just a fun addition to the walk that some walkers choose to participate in after the walk has taken place.

How do I enter the contest?

To enter the contest simply go to your account page here. You will be able to upload your contest entries there. All uploaded photos will be added to the gallery page. The gallery page is where you will share your final walk photos. Other participants can comment, like and review them. Scott Kelby himself will then view and pick the winners directly from that page.
